Biography


Rebekka Hartmann was born in Munich in 1981. She started to play the violin at the age of 5 studying with the famous Suzuki teacher Helge Thelen. Further studies followed with Jorge Sutil (Munich Philharmonic), Prof. Gottfried Schneider (Munich Academy of Music), Prof. Andreas Reiner, Ingolf Turban and Josef Kroener (Member of the Munich Radio Orchestra). She has been a student of Alice Schoenfeld at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles since 2000. She took various master classes i.e. with Wolfgang Marschner, Valery Oistrach and Rainer Kussmaul.
 
Rebekka Hartmann won a lot of national and international prizes in Germany as well as in the USA. In the year 2002 she achieved the Jascha Heifetz Scholarship Prize and 2004 she won the first prize at the “Pacem in Terris” International Music Competition. 2005 she won the 2nd prize at the International Violin competition “Henri Marteau”. She had solo appearances with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra Klausenburg, the USC Symphony Orchestra, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra, the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and the Hofer Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore she played chamber music with Christoph Eschenbach and Claudio Bohorquez.
 
Rebekka Hartmann plays on an Antonio Stradivarius (1703) by the German “Stiftung Musikleben.
